Recycling Recommendations
1. What day is my recycling cart picked up?

Recycling and trash collection occur every Friday—except in the case of inclement weather or a holiday schedule change. Make sure your cart is at the curb no later than 7:00 am on Friday or the night before. You will be notified of any changes to the schedule via Facebook or mobile phone app, Little Flock Talk. For more information about recycling service, visit www.gflenv.com/our-services.

2. Where can I recycle glass?

Glass is not accepted in your curbside cart, but it can be recycled at a local drop-off location below. Only food-grade glass bottles and jars of any color may be recycled at the drop-off. No Pyrex, dishes, windows, mirrors, or any other types of glass are accepted.

3. Should I bag my recyclables?

Curbside Cart: No. Recyclables should be placed loose in the cart. If you carry your recyclables to the curb in a plastic bag, make sure to empty your recyclables into the cart and either reuse or throw the bag in the trash.

Drop-Off Center: No, all recyclables should be placed loose in the containers. If you are collecting recyclables in bags, please open and empty the recyclables into the appropriate container. The bag should be reused or disposed of in the trash. Consider using reusable bins to store and transport your recyclables.

4. What do I do with extra cardboard that will not fit in my cart?

Cardboard that cannot be folded to fit in your cart can be taken to the local drop-off center.

6. I got stuck with Styrofoam™, can I stick it in my cart?

Unfortunately, Styrofoam and other foam materials aren’t accepted in curbside recycling, but it can be recycled at the Rogers Recycling Center located at 2300 N. Arkansas St. The drop-off only accepts clean, white beaded foam. They do not accept to-go food containers, egg cartons, meat trays or other foam with color.

7. What happens to the materials I recycle in Little Flock?

The materials you recycle curbside are taken to a MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) where they are sorted and processed for recycling. Materials dropped off at the Rogers Recycling Center are sorted and processed on-site. From there, they are either:

  • Turned into new products (like packaging, paper, or containers), or
  • Refined into usable raw materials for manufacturing.

This process reduces the need for extracting or creating new resources and supports a circular economy, where materials are reused instead of wasted.

8. Can I recycle plastic bags or plastic wrap?

No, plastic bags are not accepted in your cart or at our recycling drop-off center because they cause equipment jams at the recycling processing facility.

Plastic bags and film—like grocery bags, drink case wrapping, cling wrap, and bubble wrap—can be dropped off at most large retail or grocery stores for recycling. Consider starting a routine to save clean and dry plastic film to take with you to the grocery store.

9. Where can I recycle electronics and dispose of batteries, household chemicals and other items?

Electronics and batteries aren’t accepted in curbside recycling or drop-off containers because they can cause fires in collection trucks and recycling facilities.

Residents may recycle electronics and batteries at a Special Waste Drop-Off location. They also offer disposal of tires, bulky waste, Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), appliances and more. Please visit  www.bentoncountyrecycles.org for locations and more information.
